The 'Abbey Line' is a 6.5-mile local
railway line running from Watford Junction,
on the National Rail Network, to St Albans
Abbey station, in Hertfordshire.
Opened on May 5th 1858, the Abbey Line has
given over 150 years of continuous service
to the local community.
Since 2005, the Abbey Line Community Rail
Partnership (CRP) has brought together local
government, businesses and volunteer organisations,
along with the train operator and infrastructure
owner, in the pursuit of a common cause -
namely, to promote and improve services on the Abbey
Line.
Welcome to our website! This is intended
to be a 'one stop shop' for all things
Abbey Line. Find out where the line goes
and where the train stops, when it runs,
how you can connect with it by bus or by
train, where you can go for walks and days
out, the history of our line, and a whole
lot more.
There are also photos showing some of the
improvements and events that have taken place
on the line in recent years, thanks on many
occasions to the work of the Community Rail
Partnership. And, if you wish, you can also
download our newsletters and minutes of meetings
to see what goes on 'behind the scenes'.
Whether it is for business or pleasure, we
hope you enjoy your journey on the Abbey
Line!
